Franz Ferdinand
October 7, 2025
Franz Ferdinand put on a fantastic show earlier this October at the Admiral. Normally before shows I do a ton of prep work—listening to the set lists, brushing up on my favorite songs, and practicing my dance moves. But for this show, my schedule didn’t allow for the extensive prep. Even though I didn’t have the lyrics to every song down pat, I had an amazing time. Franz Ferdinand sounded better live than in some of their recorded music, which as I’ve said before is so hard to do. They have such a unique sound which translated so well live.
The lead singer, Alex Kapranos entertained all night long star-jumping across the stage (see the picture below) and bringing an unmatched energy to the performance. I also really enjoyed keyboardist and supporting vocalist—Julian Corrie. It’s hard to be engaging behind the keyboard, but he certainly was.
The highlight of the show for me was hearing the song Take Me Out. Originally released in 2004, this song is consistently on my Apple Music shuffle and lands on my list of all time favorites. Hearing this song live had me beaming from ear to ear as I sang along. Another highlight of the show was hearing the song Hooked from their newest album. They performed this song with the opener, Master Peace, who added in some rap verses. This collaboration between main act and opener was so much fun—especially with the crowd cheering their support.
Franz Ferdinand’s merch was some of my favorite this year. If I didn’t have some of my favorite bands coming up that I will be buying merch for, I would have bought way more than I did. I ended up taking home a signed poster featuring a spider design that is going to look so cool in my office. Thanks Franz Ferdinand for such a great night!
