Glass Animals
August 5, 2025
My fourth time seeing Glass Animals was most definitely my favorite time! My first ever blog post last September was from the first leg of the Tour of Earth in Kansas City. Although that show received a decent review, the Omaha show on this second leg of the tour far exceeded last year’s show. First, the Steelhouse in Omaha is one of my all-time favorite venues, providing a more intimate experience than the Azura Amphitheater. Being indoors also provided a better experience for both sound quality and graphic quality. Although viewing outside at the amphitheater gave a backdrop of stars and outer space, being indoors really brought the graphics to life as the rest of the venue is much darker. The visuals projected on the screen behind Glass Animals really popped!
Being closer to the stage also gave us a better chance to really appreciate the intricacies of Glass Animal’s stage design. We could see up close and personal the mission control setup that had actual graphics on the screen that changed with the song. Not only that, but they had a piece in the middle that looked like a giant glass ball the projected images in 3D based on the songs. This all matched perfectly with the large screen behind them that featured song lyrics, videos of the band, and other graphics that matched the lyrics.
Next, the setlist was so incredibly good this time around. We heard songs they haven’t played live in years, like “Tangerine” and “I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)”, some of their biggest hits like “Heat Waves” and “Tokyo Drifting”, and heard the first ever live performance of their newly released song “Vampire Bat.” I sang and danced along to all my favorites (except S2E3 which they sadly don’t play live).
This show felt very personal for so many reasons. The lead singer, Dave Bayley, has incredible stage presence. Upon messing up a verse of The Other Side of Paradise, he stopped the performance, said “I can do better” and restarted the whole entire song! This bonus time allowed me to sing some of my favorite lyrics at the top of my lungs again. The band were also extremely good sports when the fire alarm interrupted the end of The Other Side of Paradise with the house lights being brought up and the fire alarm lights flashing. They apologized for the inconvenience (that they didn’t cause) and treated us to the first ever Vampire Bat performance to make it up to us. Hearing Vampire Bat live was such a unique experience. Since the song had yet to be released at that point, the audience fell quiet listening to every lyric of the song—which literally never happens.
The crowd was energetic and appreciative of the entire experience. Finally, at the end of the show, “THANK YOU SO F***ING MUCH” projected on the screen as the band took their bows. They hugged, thanked, and Dave Bayley fell to his knees in appreciation to the crowd in Omaha. This show has made it into my top 10! I cannot say it enough, Glass Animals, I F***ING LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!
